Stevenson Whelton LLP Successful in Responding to SCC Leave Application in Beaudin v. Travelers Insurance

Stevenson Whelton LLP lawyer Neil Wilson was recently successful in responding to an application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada in Beaudin v. Travelers Insurance, an appeal concerning the correct statutory interpretation of Ontario’s Off-Road Vehicles Act. Neil was also counsel in the underlying appeal before the Ontario Court of Appeal, Beaudin v. Travelers Insurance Company of Canada, 2022 ONCA 806. The Court of Appeal’s decision considered Ontario’s insurance scheme and concluded that the goals of the statutes at issue supported extending accident benefits coverage to the dirt bike competition in which the applicant was participating.
