Avinaash Laljie is an articling student with Stevenson Whelton LLP. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in the spring of 2021. During his time in law school, Avinaash was heavily involved with the Community and Legal Aid Services Programme (CLASP). He began as a volunteer caseworker in his first year, and was accepted to the Immigration Division for placement as a Division Leader in his second year. Avinaash returned for a third year as a Senior Division Leader and played a central role in helping CLASP adapt to the new online environment spurred by COVID-19.
During his time in the Immigration Division, Avinaash was exposed to not only common immigration applications, but also processes such as appeal and judicial review. He developed an interest in litigation through working on a successful emergency stay motion with review counsel for a client with a deportation date of only a few days away. He looks forward to continuing to develop this interest with Stevenson Whelton.
During his down time, Avinaash enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys science-fiction themed novels, television shows, and movies.
